FEEDBACK ABOUT MULTIGNOMETERM
Thomas T. Soares <ttsoares@no_spam.brturbo.com>
Hi!
I am a KDE user but many good stuff from Gnome can be found over my
Desktop... Have been using MGT for about some time and it is one of my
rush-to-upgrade tool when appears news version in Freshmeat...
----------------------------------------------------------
Sven <sven@no_spam.lieblos.de>
Hy,
thanks for this programm - the last weeks and month I think about
to buy a second screen to manage all my terminals I need on one day,
and then i found MGT on freshmeat!
Thanks for this - its the best since X and cut & paste!
After 3 minutes use I don't want to miss your MGT, on monday
I will first install MGT on my buisnessmachine.
Regards from Sven! - Munich, Germany

Hello There!
The only thing I like on kde was Kconsole, Console or
whatever. I have just installed your multi-gnome-terminal
and already I love it!
My gnome desktop was littered my terminals opened
and sometimes forgotten.
I am spreading the news at my institute, I hope
others will try your software and thank you!

Mark J Chiodini <Mark@no_spam.ChiodiniOnline.com>
I just wanted to say what a great job you have done on the Multi
GNOME Terminal!! I am not a programmer and so my contributions to the
Linux community are limited to say the least, but I just wanted to
express my appreciation to you, and other programmers who donate there
talents. It really is a great program.
-----------------------------------------------------------
James D Strandboge <jstrand1@no_spam.rochester.rr.com>
I just found out about multi-gnome-terminal and love it. I prefer gnome
over kde, but always thought that konsole's tabbed terminals were so
cool and wished gnome-terminal could do it. Now it can. :-)
Thanks so much!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Roger <roger123@no_spam.alltel.net>
I noticed the feature(s) i was waiting for all along! very nice.
surprised the @#$@ out of me!
Yup, I was recently thinking of an option to "save command states" and I
did notice the (Settings > Preferences > Tabs > ) "Restore Commands"
option.
I usually run activily within multi-gnome-terminal irssi (a command line
version of an irc client) and it (of course) would be nice to see this
command restored on restart of multi-gnome-terminal. basically, I was
thinking more of a "bookmarks" on the toolbar (sort of like mozilla
bookmarks), but your way maybe even better which, on restart of
multi-gnome-terminal, would automagically run the irssi (and/or other
previously running commands)
Again, Very nice!

Kevin Ellwood <kellwood@no_spam.ameritech.net>
I am an avid user of MGT and feel that it is my single most important gnome application. I was previously using KDE because I liked Konsole so
much. MGT gave me a good reason to switch to gnome. Great job!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Kenneth J. Evans <eros@no_spam.myrealbox.com>
Thank you for multi-gnome-terminal! I love this baby. I was so gealous
a while back when I saw KDE and how konsole was doing something like
this. I've been using for a while, but with the 1.4.0 release I just
could not stop myself from leaping with joy. I love the new keybindings
editor and the resize bug got fixed. The keybindings editor alone puts
MGT over the top on konsole. You are the best. You make me more
productive. Thank YOU. :)

Dave Edwards <dle1@no_spam.sympatico.ca>
Greetings, De Michele Cristiano.
I wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for multi-gnome-terminal.
It's an excellent program -- my one-and-only terminal. It does exactly
what I need, and it's very nice to see it being actively developed and
improving with each new release.
I just installed 1.3.13 and I like like it even more than I did. I like to keep my desktop tidy and clean, so I only have the titled tabs showing, and nothing else. MGT is indispensible for administering a network and
not having seven terms scattered all over the screen. In 1.3.13, I can
also rename and remove tabs from the right-click popup menu, which I like
because now I can hide the button bar, too.
I used to use konsole, but MGT is superior to it. Congratulations, and
keep up the good work! :-)

Hi,
just thought I'd mention I just tried multiterm. It's really what I've
been looking for.
As a partner for vim it's superb, ie while developing I keep a large number
of related source files open, and a terminal. Although vim can split
vertically and horizontally it's not nice once you get to about three or
four files. This helps me a lot as I canhave separate vims for each.

Dear M. De Michele
I'm having a problem compiling multi-gnome-terminal 1.3.10.
First I should say I'm currently using multi-gnome-terminal 1.3.3, and I think it's fabulous...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SQLBoy <sqlboy@no_spam.playway.net>
Hey man, I've been using your multi gnome terminal now for awhile. Its
great. Keep up the good work. I consider it one of the most useful
apps I have and its running at all times.

venkat <venkat@no_spam.innvo.com>
Hi,
just installed your multi-gnome terminal...absolutely wonderful!!
whats more...starting 3 simultaneous sessions requires lesser memory
than running 3 xterms or rxvts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ujwal S. Sathyam" <setlur@no_span.home.com>:
Hello,
Thank you for multi-gnome-terminal!! I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I even started
using konsole in my gnome desktop. Then I considered writing something like this myself. Good that someone
else put in the ahrd work :-). I also found mpterm, but can't get it to run...
Thanks,
Ujwal

Arun Bhanu <arunbhanu@no_spam.pacific.net.sg>
Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks for the great MGT program. You have done a great
job with it. I was using Konsole until I came across MGT. Konsole have been
stashed away and I use MGT nowadays. It has given me complete mouse-free
environment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
aLEczapKA <aleczapka@no_spam.gmx.net>
T H A N X - it simply rox... I dislike gnome.. even haven't installed it.. no
libs.. nothing.. so was kinda disapointed (pissed off:) at the begginig that
it actually requires gnome.. but as the name says... MTG ... but couldn't
stop myself from trying out.. as seen on the screenshots.. list of features..
it all sounded very promissing.. so I've took my time and installed gnomelibs
and all the stuff which was required to run it.. and wow!
I trashed away xterm, aterm,Eterm & Konsole.. thx but not anymore.. keep up
the good job man!
Thx
-------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all thanks for writing this program.
The braindeadness of the gnome-terminal made me use
konsole...:-(
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Samuel M. Stringham <sams@no_spam.e-sa.com>:
From what I have used I like the program a lot, thank you....
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Christoph Wegener <c.wegener@no_spam.itcampus.de>:
Hi Cristiano
I just downloaded your modified version of the GNOME terminal. It looks
really nice. I think this kind of terminal is one of the things that
many people are missing for their GNOME Desktop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben Ford <ben@no_spam.kalifornia.com>:
I think it looks extremely slick. Is it configurable to the point that
you can drop the tool bars and right click on the tab area for that
functionality? Hopefully they will accept the patch in the "official"
gnome tree.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Christian Rose <menthos@no_spam.menthos.com>
Just my personal opinions of course, and don't let them scare you. I
think your extensions to the terminal are very welcome by many
experienced terminal users, including me. Keep up the good work!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Tony Rein <trein@no_spam.umich.edu>:
This is just a note to say thank you for Multi-Gnome-Terminal. It
addresses perfectly my frustrations with Gnome Terminal.
Nice work.

Mickael Bailly <mb@no_spam.jmi.fr>:
Hello !
your multi gnome terminal is very sweet to me, it remains me the konsole in
some ways... :)

Hartje Bruns <h@no_spam.rtjebruns.de>
Hi,
today i tested multignometerminal i think its great, but my ctrl-l to
clear the screen doesn t work anymore. Is it a bug or am i wrong ?
Normally i was using mpterm and powershell, but will use
multignometerminal because it seems to be faster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew Gregg <greggmc@no_spam.musc.edu>
I was a big fan of PowerShell(http://powershell.sourceforge.net/), but
unfortunately, development looks to have completely stopped with it.
Glad to see someone "pickup the torch" for a mutli-session shell.
Thanks

Multi-gnome-terminal is a great program.. it's good to see a multi-tab
terminal available for GNOME now. Hopefully this will become part of
the "standard" gnome terminal.
Thanks!

I have been using MGT for a few weeks and it works great! Thanks
for the excellent enhancement to the standard GNOME terminal. You
should try to get this incorporated into the GNOME distribution.

Scott <netmasta10bt@no_spam.yahoo.com>
Hey man, love the term! Anyway I could persuade you to add a a percenage
slider bar to the background shader, and a color picker for a background color
tinter? You would definitely be my hero!
Thanks for a great app,

Teddy Odum <teddy2@no_spam.louisacomm.net>
Just wanted to write and thank you for making this multi-terminal
terminal. It addresses the only complaint I've had about gnome. I only
just discovered it today and am very pleased. I used to use konsole,
but I really don't like to use KDE. I've gotten into the habit of
opening several gnome-terminals instead, but switching windows can be a
pain since you would need to scroll through all the open terminals to
find your place. I see you probably experienced the same problem. I
hope this terminal gets added to the official gnome as it is a great
terminal. Keep up the good work.

I want to tell you how much I have enjoyed using your MGT
program.
Being a long time GNOME afficionado and dedicated Slackware
user,
the recent flurry of updates has been lots of fun. Though I
am not
a coder, I am a fairly adept user since I've run Linux as my
main
OS for 3-4 years now.
MGT has built/installed successfully for many versions now
from source,
Slack packages and the install binaries that you have so
graciously
provided on your site.

program, but I have found one problem that there does not seem to be an
easy way to get around.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
G. R. Gaudreau <revgr@no_spam.sympatico.ca>
I downloaded your MGT to try it, because I liked being able to open
multi-terms and not having to have lots of terms on my desktops. I
really love MGT, it's great! I use one MGT, turn on the sticky bit so
it'll appear on every desktop and voila!
Before that I had to open multiple terms and sometimes it was confusing,
but not anymore: On MGT does the trick. WOOHOO! Thank you very much for
all your work, I appreciate it and I've told my Linux friends so they
can try it.

tool for GNOME.

Sebastian Niedworok <sebastian@no_spam.niedworok.org>
Hi,
I just tried multi-gnome-terminal and I really like it.
Especially after having discovered the titled tabs option.
In my opinion this should be the default, but YMMV.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Anil (Neil) Gulati <anil.gulati@no_spam.bigpond.com>
Thanks for making multi-gnome-terminal available. For too long have I
been alt-shift-arrow-ing around my desktops switching between usually
around 6-9 gnome-terminal shell windows. Your solution is more efficient
and less stressful. The colour coded tabs that change when output
arrives is also brilliant. I feel so cool just glancing at my tabs every
now and then to see if a job has finished.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Brandon Rich <brandon@no_spam.trainix.com>
Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for an excellent piece of
useful software! It does everything I've always wanted a terminal
program to do!
Thanks a ton!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim <jcphil@no_spam.mindspring.com>
I had been using Eterm, because I like having a transparent terminal. But Eterm didn't have multiple windows, so I wasn't satisfied with it. Now I have the best of both worlds. Your terminal should be part of the standard Gnome distribution. Have you asked the people at Ximian if they will include it?
Anyway, good job!
Thanks,
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris <onesandzeros@no_spam.myrealbox.com>
Signore De Michele,
I've been using your program for a while now, and it's excellent. However, the bug fixes in 1.3.5 concerning geometry seem to be the final steps in perfecting the Multi-Gnome-Terminal. It should be the default terminal for future versions of Gnome. Thanks for writing this, it was greatly needed.
Sincerely,
Chris

Tyler Durden <zarathustra42@no_spam.gmx.de>
It's sooo cool.
If you didn't already knew. :)
Thanks !
I use it every day. I really would like multi gnome terminal to remember more. For example when i had ssh sessions on 0,1,2 and 3 i would like it to reconnect when i fire it up again. Or move into the same directories as the dirs i were working in when i quited multi gnome terminal.
Would be nice to hear about your thoughts...
keep up the great work
Sebastian

Pedro-J. Ayala <pjayala@no_spam.ono.com>
Hi De Michele,
I have been looking for a multi tab terminal and finally i found your's. I think it is great, but it could be even greater. Did you thing in some way to store the configuration of the tabs, for example tab name, folder... so when you open the application you can load the config file and have the tabs and folders ready for action. This could be great!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff Whitaker <jsw@no_spam.cdc.noaa.gov>
De Michele: I love your program - I was a PowerShell user and was looking
for something to replace it since development seems to have ceased on that
project. One feature PowerShell had that I really liked was the ability
to pop up the "commands" menu by right-clicking within the terminal
window. Thanks for your hard work!

Jennifer <jennifer@no_spam.unrulygrrl.org>

Jens Askengren <jensus@no_spam.linux.nu>
Hello
Multignometerm is übercool, but I think the shortcut for switching tab
should be consistent with other gnome applications. Check out XChat or
Galeon for example. The use alt+<n> to access the n:th tab. The tabs are
also numbered

Hi De Michele!
Just a quick note of thanks for your work on this *FANTASTIC* app!
I use it all day everyday and was dismayed when the Debian package
stopped working after an update yesterday :-( Never mind I have just

Daniel Whicker <daniel.whicker@no_spam.solidsystems.com>
De Michele,
Thanks for writing MGT. I use it everyday and couldn't imagine working
without it. One feature request, though. As you may know, Galeon
allows you to place an "X" on each tab so that you can close that tab.
(It actually will only let you close the currently active tab, but the
"X" is placed on each tab). This functionality for MGT would make it
even more user friendly for, and I'm sure many others. Again, MGT is
fantastic.
Thanks,
Daniel

BTW, excellent terminal though, I usually have so many terms open I can
never find them. This frees up so much desktop space for me. Any idea
when the transparency will work though? I see no mention of it in the
docs but it appears to be disabled. But still, big kudos, tabs have to be
the best thing for the shell since virtual terminals.
